Description
The pharmacy residency programs conducted at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia have a strong commitment to the education and professional development of pharmacists. For the 2015-2016 residency class, we will offer six positions in our Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency program, one position in our Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Critical Care program and one position in our PGY2 Infectious Diseases program.
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is recruiting for its 8th class and is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The graduates of our PGY1 program will be prepared for positions to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care, serve as adjunct faculty or complete PGY2 pharmacy training.
The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program is currently in its 2nd year and is seeking full accreditation by ASHP. The emphasis of this program is to develop pharmacists with expertise in critical care pharmacotherapy. The graduates of our PGY2 program will be prepared to practice as a clinical specialist in critical care and serve as adjunct faculty.
The PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency Program’s first resident started July 1, 2014. The program is seeking full accreditation status with ASHP. The emphasis of this program is to develop pharmacists adept in clinical management of infectious diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship. The graduates of our PGY2 program will be prepared to practice as clinical specialists in infectious diseases, manage Antimicrobial Stewardship programs and serve as adjunct faculty.
