Description
Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center’s PGY1 Residency is a 12-month postgraduate training program designed to help new pharmacists gain confidence and competence in the health system setting. This professional practice learning experience will emphasize the development of the knowledge and skills needed to pursue rational drug therapy. The goals, objectives and evaluation processes are consistent with those established by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists for PGY1 programs.
Residents receive training and develop competence in acute and ambulatory patient care, medication safety, and practice management. Residents serve as an integral part of our ongoing staff development program and will present continuing education programs to our staff. Residents will also precept Doctor of Pharmacy candidates from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy and are given the opportunity to present didactic lectures at the university. Each resident will complete a major project and present the results at the annual Eastern States Residency Conference.
