Presenter: Aylin Unal, PharmD

Objectives:

  1. Assess the term “hemp” according to the 2018 Farm Bill
  2. Differentiate hemp from medical marijuana
  3. Evaluate the legality of CBD/THC-A oils in Virginia
  4. Summarize the authority of pharmaceutical processors in the state of Virginia

The Endocannabinoid System and the Pharmacokinetics of Cannabinoids
Presenter: Emily Gicewicz, PharmD

Objectives:

  1. Differentiate THC from CBD
  2. Differentiate endogenous, exogenous, and synthetic cannabinoids
  3. Examine the endocannabinoid system
  4. Explain how cannabinoids are thought to work in the body

  1. Summarize the uses and possible side effects of available CBD products in order to effectively counsel patients
  2. Evaluate the usage of dosage forms of available CBD formulations.

Approved Cannabinoids and Evidence Regarding Medical Marijuana

  1. Evaluate the uses and dosage formulations of FDA-approved cannabinoids and medical marijuana
  2. Determine possible side effects and interactions of FDA-approved cannabinoids and medical marijuana
  3. Assess completed and current trials where medical marijuana is being used as therapy
