DEI Webinar Series: Overcoming Mistrust of Health/Medical Information and Research: Roles for Faith Communities and Pharmacy Personnel

May 21, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Sunday, May 21, 2023
7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Adverse experiences, both historical and current, experienced by minoritized people create mistrust of health care providers, scientists, and others. This can lead to avoidance of necessary health care diagnoses and services and contribute to poor health, avoidable morbidity, and mortality. What can faith communities and pharmacy personnel do to lessen mistrust and draw individuals into a positive engagement with those entrusted with their care?

  1. List some of the theological reason patients avoid medical care
  2. Describe how reasons for avoiding medical care may differ by tradition
