Substance Use Disorders & Trauma

Overview

“Why do people use drugs?” is a question I am frequently asked. There are, of course, many reasons why people develop substance use disorders, but trauma is now recognized as a factor in the development of SUD. Understanding the connection between SUD and trauma is important in providing services to all clients living with SUD. This session will help you understand the different types of trauma and the ways that we respond to trauma.
