Immunization Update 2022 – Home Study

Overview

The Immunization Update 2022 will provide a reminder of the pediatric and adult vaccination schedules, as well as any changes or additional to the schedules. The vaccine recommendation changes will be highlighted during this presentation. We will briefly touch on other COVID-19 related updates, such as the COVID/Influenza combination vaccine and other new COVID vaccines, and vaccine hesitancy. Vaccination special situations, special populations, and frequently asked questions will also be reviewed.

Pharmacists

  • Evaluate recent updates or changes that influence the delivery of pharmacy-based immunization services.
  • Apply the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Advisory Committee on Immunization
  • Practices (ACIP) immunization schedule and recommendations to practice.
  • Discuss updates on COVID vaccines and clinical considerations.
  • Discuss how to address vaccine hesitancy in patients.
  • Review the importance of the Virginia Immunization Information System (VIIS).

Pharmacy Technicians

  • Identify importance of pharmacy-based immunization delivery services.
  • Recognize the role of the technician in the practice management of pharmacy-based immunization services.
