🚨 URGENT CALL TO ACTION: REJECT THE GOVERNOR’S AMENDMENT! 🚨
The future of pharmacy in Virginia is once again at risk. The Save Local Pharmacies Act (HB2610/SB875) passed both the House and Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support—but instead of signing it into law, Governor Youngkin has sent the bill back with a dismal amendment that weakens its core protections for patients and pharmacies.
This amendment cannot stand. We need all pharmacy professionals and supporters to take immediate action to urge legislators—especially Republicans—to REJECT the Governor’s amendment.
This is not just a community pharmacy issue—it affects ALL pharmacy settings. If pharmacies continue to close due to unfair PBM-driven reimbursement, Virginia will face:
✅ Fewer pharmacy access points – more pharmacy deserts, longer travel times, and patients going without essential care.
✅ Worsened working conditions – remaining pharmacies will be overwhelmed.
✅ Zero transparency – PBMs continue to profit in the shadows while patients and pharmacies suffer.
Contact them TODAY and ask them to reject the Governor’s amendment. Legislators have until April 2 to respond to the Governor, so time is short.[Sample Email/Call Script]
I am reaching out as a pharmacy professional and your constituent to urge you to reject the Governor’s amendment to the Save Local Pharmacies Act (HB2610/SB875).
This bill passed with overwhelming bipartisan support because it brings transparency and sustainability to Virginia’s Medicaid pharmacy program. The Governor’s proposed amendment does nothing to support transparency and undermines patient access to care.
We cannot afford another half-measure. I respectfully ask you to stand with local pharmacies and patients and vote to reject the amendment by April 2.
Thank you for your leadership on this critical issue.
📢 If your Delegate or Senator is NOT a Republican:
Encourage them to remain strong and committed to passing the original bill as written and prepare to support its override if necessary.
