Tom Reinders, Outstanding Pharmacist Recipient 2020
The VPhA Outstanding Pharmacist Award is selected by a vote of current Association members and honors member pharmacists for outstanding and lasting contributions to the profession of pharmacy that have impacted our past and will help shape our future. This is the highest honor that can be given by VPhA – Tom joins the company of some amazing Virginia Pharmacists.

Mark Vaughan, Bowl of Hygeia Community Service Award Recipient 2020

Established in 1958, the Bowl of Hygeia Award recognizes pharmacists who possess outstanding records of civic leadership in their communities. In addition to service through their local, state, and national pharmacy associations, award recipients devote their time, talent, and resources to a wide variety of causes and community service outside the profession. Today, the Bowl of Hygeia is the most widely recognized international symbol for the pharmacy profession and is considered one of the profession’s most prestigious awards. The award is presented annually by participating state pharmacy associations, including those in the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Patricia Robinson, Ed. D. Spearbeck Virginia Pharmacist Service Award Recipient 2020

This award was created to honor VPhA pharmacist members who have made outstanding contributions of time and talent to the profession and Association in the recent past. In 2012, the award was renamed in honor of Ed Spearbeck, two-time Service Award recipient, for his tireless dedication to the profession and VPhA.

Catherine Cary, Henry Addington Medal Recipient 2020
Launched in 2013, the Addington Medal for Excellence in Independent Community Pharmacy is a featured award at the VPhA Annual Convention presented by the VPhA Foundation Addington Vision Fund. Recipients are selected by the Board of Directors of the VPhA Academy of Independent Pharmacists (VPhA AIP) and must embody two principals of the Addington Vision to be considered: advance the entrepreneurial spirit for community pharmacy, and empower community pharmacists with innovations in the practice and business of pharmacy to help them thrive.

Margaret Landis, Distinguished Young Pharmacist Recipient 2020

The Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award is presented annually to young pharmacists across the United States. This award recognizes individual excellence and outstanding contributions to pharmacy associations and communities by new practitioners. Francesca Swailes, Irene B. Stiff Local Association President Recipient 2020
The Local Association President’s Award was introduced in 1986 and was re-named in 1990 in memory of Ilene Stiff, a long time VPhA staff member. This award honors presidents of local chapters of the Virginia Pharmacists Association who exceed the requirements in the following categories: programming, meeting attendance, membership retention and growth, and participation and cooperation in state association activities and a variety of local activities.

2020 Recipients: Morgan Grant, Jessica McDaniel, Amy Sparkman and Bobby Vincent
The VPhA Academy of New Practitioners “10 Under 10” recognition was created to spotlight the rising stars of the Association. This honor highlights 10 impressive individuals on a yearly basis who graduated pharmacy school less than 10 years ago.
