Governor McAuliffe has recognized October 2017 as Virginia Pharmacists Month!
WHEREAS, pharmacists are vital members of healthcare teams and are directly involved in patient care; and
WHEREAS, pharmacists are among the most accessible healthcare providers in the community; and
WHEREAS, today’s increasingly complex medications require individualized medication management and prevention strategies; and
WHEREAS, there are more than 14,400 licensed pharmacists in Virginia, 8,400 of whom are in the workforce, improve the healthcare outcomes, and reduce healthcare costs of more than eight million Virginians through pharmacists’ roles as medication experts; and
WHEREAS, it is important that all users and caregivers who administer prescription and nonprescription medications are knowledgeable about their responsibilites; and
WHEREAS, Virginia Pharmacists Month is an opportunity to recognize the hard work of pharmacists throughout the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terence R. McAuliffe, do hereby recognize October 2017 as VIRGINIA PHARMACISTS MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
